The stain is downhill from the leak
Malaysian roofs fail in predictable places: cracked or slipped tiles, corroded valley gutters, dried-out flashing around vents, and mortar ridges that have given up after twenty years of expansion and contraction. The tricky part is that water travels — it enters at one point, runs along battens and beams, and stains the ceiling metres away. Patching above the stain misses the entry point almost every time.
That is why we trace before we quote. We inspect from inside the roof space, follow the water marks upslope, and hose-test the suspected entry until we see the drip with our own eyes. Then the quotation covers the actual fault, and the repair is tested the same way before we leave.
